Why Lescut
Save material without buying expensive nesting software
Access
Professional nesting, no software or hardware to buy
Nesting around hide defects and grades, or true shape markers, usually means an expensive desktop licence and a PC to run it. Lescut opens in your browser and runs your jobs on our cloud machines.
Flexibility
Pay monthly for the nesting you use
Plans from €29 a month, sized by engine minutes. Change plans any time, or cancel. No contract, no maintenance fee, no upgrade to buy.
Simplicity
Upload, nest, cut
Upload your DXF or SVG patterns, add your scanned hides or your roll width, and download a layout your cutter reads, with your layers and curves intact.
€0 for 7 days. Card required. Cancel any time.
Leather nesting that respects every defect and grade
Bring the hide files your conveyor or camera scanner already produces. Lescut reads the outline, the defects and the quality zones, and places each part only where its grade allows.
Defects stay out of your parts
Holes, scars and brands from the scanner file become no-go areas, with a safety margin you set.
The right grade in the right place
Each part has a minimum grade, and a part can carry its own graded sub-zones: a seat front that must be prime on a panel whose back edge can take grade C.
Fewest hides, or lowest hide cost
Fill an order of N sets with the fewest hides, or with the cheapest hide area when your hides are priced differently.
Reads your scanner’s files
Layer-mapping profiles for conveyor and fixed-table camera systems, set once per scanner.
Small parts fill the gaps
Part-in-part nesting puts welts, tabs and piping inside cut-outs and between larger panels.
Straight to your cutting table
One DXF per hide for your CNC knife table, nested in as little as 10 seconds while the hide waits on the table.
What the engine sees in a scanner file
Hide H-2026-0011: 7 defects and 13 grade zones. The nest at the top of this page places 56 parts on it and uses 82% of its area.
Fabric nesting and marker making
Fabric nesting: the shortest marker for your roll width
Enter the roll width, upload the pattern and set how many sets to cut. Lescut finds a marker that fits, then keeps searching for a shorter one until the job’s time is up. For apparel and upholstery fabric, technical textiles, foam, film or anything else on a roll.
AAMA/ASTM DXF in
Grain lines and quantities come from the pattern file, and you can change them per piece.
Grain, rotation and flip rules
Set per piece, so directional fabric and prints are never cut the wrong way.
85% fabric use on the sample above
True shape nesting interlocks curved pieces instead of boxing them.
Markers your cutter reads
One DXF and SVG per marker, with your original layers and curves.
Sheet nesting
Sheet nesting: every order on the fewest sheets
Upload your parts, enter the sheet size and how many sheets you have, and set how many sets to cut. Lescut nests the order on as few sheets as it can, then keeps looking for a layout on fewer until the job’s time is up. For plywood and MDF, plastics, composite panels, metal and anything else cut from sheets.
Sheet 190% used
Sheet 289% used
Sheet 389% used
DXF and SVG in
From your CAD or cabinet software; arcs stay curves in the cutting files.
Grain and face rules
Set per part, so veneer, laminate and printed faces never come out reversed.
89% of the plywood used on the sample above
Small parts drop into the gaps and inside the cut-outs of larger ones.
Kits and complete sets
When the sheets run short, complete cabinets, signs or kits come first.
From parts file to cutting file in three steps
- 01
Upload your parts
A DXF or SVG of closed outlines. Quantities, grades and rotation come from the file, or you set them per part.
- 02
Add hides, a roll width or sheets
One scanner DXF per hide for leather. For textile, just the fabric width; for sheets, their size and how many you have.
- 03
Nest and download
Choose how many sets to cut. Get one cutting file per hide or sheet, or one marker, with the yield of each.
REST API
Nesting inside your own software
The engine behind Lescut, behind one HTTPS interface. Your CAD, ERP or cutting-table software, a script or an AI agent sends the parts and the hides or a roll width, and the nest comes back, without anyone opening the browser. Included in Pro and Enterprise plans, from €49 a month: create an API key from your account and send your first job.
Send a job
Parts with outlines, holes, quantities, grades and rotation and flip rules; hides with defects and grade zones, or a roll width.
Follow the search
Progress while the job runs, so your users watch the yield improve or stop early.
Get the nest back
Placements to draw in your own software, plus DXF and SVG per hide or marker with the original layers.
Same rules as the app
Defects, grades, grain, sets and minimum gaps hold exactly as they do in the browser.
Savings calculator
What is one point of yield worth to you?
Material is the largest cost of most orders. Enter your own volume and prices to see what a better nest saves each month, next to the price of the plan that runs it. More on the leather savings calculator, the fabric savings calculator for apparel, and the sheet savings calculator.
70% today → 73.0% with nesting. This is your assumption; the trial measures it on your own files.
Engine time: how the plan is chosen
A batch of about 10 hides nests well in a 10-minute job; a single hide waiting on the table needs 10 to 30 seconds. Your monthly volume divided by this gives the jobs a month, and the calculator picks the cheapest plan whose engine minutes and job length cover them.

Questions about nesting with Lescut
What is nesting?
Nesting is laying out the parts you need to cut on a hide, a roll or a sheet so they use as little material as possible. Lescut does true shape 2D nesting: it works with the real outlines of your parts, curves and notches included, not the rectangles around them.
What is leather nesting?
Leather nesting places parts on natural hides, where every hide has its own shape, defects and quality zones. Good leather nesting keeps parts out of defects, puts each part on a grade it allows, and fills an order with as few hides as possible. Lescut reads all of this from your hide scanner's DXF files.
What is textile nesting?
Textile nesting, or marker making, lays out every pattern piece of an order on a fabric roll of fixed width so the marker is as short as possible; every centimetre saved is saved again on every ply. Lescut keeps pieces on grain, matches stripes and plaids, nests folded and tubular fabric on half the width, and reads AAMA/ASTM DXF from your pattern CAD.
What is sheet nesting?
Sheet nesting places the parts of an order on stock sheets, plywood, MDF, acrylic, composite panels or metal, so the order needs as few sheets as possible, or costs the least when your sizes have different prices. Lescut nests on one or several sheet sizes, keeps wood grain and face-up sides where you ask, drops small parts inside the cut-outs of larger ones, and can place complete kits first.
How does the 7-day free trial work?
Pick a plan, create your account and add a card through Stripe. You get the full plan for 7 days and pay €0. Cancel from the Billing page before the trial ends and you are never charged; otherwise the monthly price starts when the trial ends.
Why do you ask for a card?
Nesting jobs run on dedicated cloud machines, and a card keeps those for people cutting real orders. Checkout shows the date of the first charge before you confirm, and nothing is charged during the trial.
Which file formats do you support?
Parts come in as DXF (plain or AAMA/ASTM) or SVG. Hides come in as the DXF your scanner exports; for fabric you enter the roll width, for sheets their sizes and counts. You get one DXF and one SVG back per hide, marker or sheet, with your original layers and curves, moved and rotated into place.
Which hide scanners work with Lescut?
Any scanner that exports a DXF with the hide outline, defects and quality zones on layers, from conveyor systems to fixed cutting tables with a camera. A scanner profile maps your vendor's layer names once; every later batch reads the same way.
Which cutting machines does it work with?
Any cutter whose software imports DXF or SVG. For leather that is usually a CNC knife cutting table with an oscillating blade, for fabric an automatic multi-ply cutter or a single-ply knife table, for sheets a CNC router, laser, waterjet or plasma table. A cutter profile renames and recolours layers for your tools; set the gap between parts to match your blade or kerf.
How does the nest get back onto the hide?
Either nest while the hide waits on the cutting table, with a short search of 10 to 30 seconds, and cut it where it lies. Or scan a batch of hides, nest the whole order across them for a better yield, and line each hide up again with your table's projector or camera before cutting.
Can I use it for laser cutting?
Yes. The cutting files are plain DXF and SVG, which laser software imports directly. On leather a laser darkens the cut edge, so most leather factories cut larger parts with a knife table and keep the laser for small, detailed parts.
Can I nest parts drawn in Fusion 360?
Yes. Export the sketch as DXF from Fusion 360, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Inkscape or your pattern CAD and upload it. Each closed outline becomes a part.
Is Lescut sheet metal nesting software?
Lescut nests flat parts on stock sheets, wood, plastics, composite panels or metal, on as few sheets as it can, and returns DXF and SVG with your original layers. It does not write toolpaths: lead-ins, cut order and common-line cutting with a kerf stay with your CAM or cutter software (for knife tables it can cut shared straight edges once), and offcuts are not yet kept as stock.
Can I nest leather, textile and sheets?
Yes, as separate organizations under one login. Each organization nests one material with its own parts, jobs and plan, and you switch between them from the menu.
Is there an API?
Yes. Pro and Enterprise plans include a REST API: create an API key from your account, and your ERP, CAD, scanner station or script sends parts and hides, a roll width or sheet sizes, follows the job's progress, and gets back the placements and the DXF and SVG cutting files. The API docs list every endpoint with curl examples.
Can I integrate Lescut into my own software?
Yes. If you make pattern CAD, cutting tables, hide scanners or cutting-room software, Lescut can be the nesting module behind it: your software sends the parts and the hides, roll or sheets through the API and draws the nest it gets back, in your own interface. Your customers' outlines can travel with each job instead of being stored with us. Offering nesting to your own customers runs on partner terms; contact us to set them up.
Can I use AI agents with Lescut?
Yes. The API is described in an OpenAPI document, so you can load it into an agent framework, a custom GPT action or a client generator and give the agent an API key. The agent then uploads parts, starts jobs and downloads cutting files like any other client, within your plan's engine minutes and request limits, and the error messages tell it how to fix a request.
How does online nesting work?
You upload your files in the browser and the nesting runs on our servers, so there is nothing to install. Lescut runs in the browser and nesting jobs run on cloud machines sized by your plan, up to 16 vCPU. You watch progress live and download the files when the job finishes.
Are my patterns kept confidential?
Yes. Your patterns, hides and results stay yours and are visible only to your organization. They are stored encrypted in the EU, and the job data sent to the machines that run the engine is encrypted with a key we hold. We never share them with other customers, use them to train or tune the engine, or show them in marketing without your written consent. To keep nothing with us, send the outlines with each job through the API instead of uploading files: they exist only as part of that job, which is deleted when you delete it or 24 hours after it ends.
